Hail bruises shingles in ways you cannot see from the ground. A proper inspection protects your claim and your roof.

Hail damage is easy to miss. It shows up as small bruises where the protective granules were knocked off, and those bruises turn into leaks years later.

Signs you may need this

  • Dents in soft metal: gutters, downspouts, vents, air conditioner fins
  • Dark spots on shingles where the surface grit is gone
  • Piles of granules at the bottom of downspouts
  • Cracked or split shingles that were not loose before
  • Dents or dings on a skylight frame or chimney cap

How the visit goes

  1. 1. Start with the metal

Soft metal shows hail first. If the gutters and vents are dented, the shingles took hits too.

  2. 2. Check shingle surfaces

The roofer looks for bruising: spots where the granules are knocked off and the mat underneath is exposed.

  3. 3. Mark and count

Hits get marked and counted by roof section, because that is how damage is measured and reported.

  4. 4. Repair or replace, explained

A few hits in one area can be repaired. Bruising across the whole roof is a different conversation, and the roofer will say which one you have.

What changes the price

We do not post prices, because a roof nobody has looked at cannot be priced. These are the things that make the job bigger or smaller.

  • • How much of the roof shows hits, not just how bad the worst spot is
  • • Age and type of the shingles
  • • Whether vents, gutters and flashing also need replacing
  • • Roof height, pitch and access
  • • Whether the same shingle is still available

Questions homeowners ask

My roof looks fine. Can it still be damaged?
Yes. Hail bruises are hard to see from the ground. That is why they get missed until a leak starts.
Do you know if hail hit my house?
Public weather records show where hail was reported. They do not show what happened to your shingles. Only someone on the roof can tell you that.
Is hail damage always an insurance claim?
Not always. It depends on your policy and how much damage there is. We document what we find, and your insurer decides.
Should I sign anything at the front door?
No. Get the inspection, get the photos, get the price in writing, and take your time.

Straight talk: We do not claim your roof has hail damage from a map or a news story. That claim needs someone on the roof, and it stays unknown until then.

What to expect

Straight answers to the questions people ask before they book.

How soon can you come out?
For most inspections and estimates, within a few days. If water is coming into your house right now, call us — active leaks jump the line.
How long will the appointment take?
Plan on 45 minutes to an hour. We walk the roof, check the attic when we can, take photos, and sit down with you to go over what we found and the written price.
Do I need to be home?
Yes, plan to be there. Sometimes we need to get into the house or the attic to find the real source of a leak. Being home also means you hear the findings straight from us instead of a phone call later.
What if it rains on my job day?
We don't tear off a roof when there's a real chance of rain. We follow a rain-percentage rule: if the forecast shows a meaningful chance of rain during the day, we push the tear-off to the next good day. Nobody races a storm with a tarp on your house.

Before we come out

Please be home, and clear a path to the attic door if you have one.

This is the list for a full roof install day. You do not need any of it for an inspection.

  • Let your neighbors know the day before — ladders and a dumpster are easier when they expect it.
  • Move cars out of the driveway and off the street in front of the house.
  • Keep pets inside, and please clean up the yard first.
  • Trim bushes and shrubs back from the sides of the house so the crew isn't standing in them.
  • Take down yard decorations, statues, solar lights and anything fragile near the walls.
  • Clear a path to the attic or crawlspace — we may need to check underneath the roof.
